MEETING POINT FOR SUSTAINABLE COMPETITIVENESS

7th Industry Congress will be held in Istanbul on December 3-4, 2008 with the theme of “Sustainable Competitiveness: Supportive Business Environment for Industry”.
Manufacturing company representatives, especially SMEs, public sector, academia and non-governmental organisations will be participating in the Congress where distinguished national and international figures are being invited as speakers to share their knowledge, experience and insight. The aim of the Congress is to discuss the business environment and investment climate in which the Turkish manufacturing industry can acquire sustainable competitive strength.
First day keynote speaker of the Congress, Peter Cornelius , Head of Strategy & Economics, Alpinvest Partners, one of the world’s leading economists and experts on global competitiveness will focus on the theme “Taking Advantage of Global Dynamics.”
On the second day of the event, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge about the subject “Turning a Business Around” from Mark Blayney an independent international turnaround and strategy consultant, specialized in crisis financial management and mentoring of owner managed businesses in recovery.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER - DR. PETER CORNELIUS, Global Head of Research, Alpinvest Partners

Dr. Peter Cornelius is one of the world’s leading economists and experts on global competitiveness. Few people have held as many senior positions in the world’s prestigious economic institutions.

Currently, Peter is Global Head of Research at Alpinvest Partners, one of the world’s largest private equity investors. He headed the Global Competitiveness Programme at the World Economic Forum (WEF) where he served as Chief Economist and editor of the Global Competitiveness Report and various other studies on economic growth and development.

As the former Group Chief Economist of Royal Dutch Shell, he analyzed global trends, advised on structural shifts, especially in the oil and gas markets, and contributed to the company’s global, regional and business scenario planning.
