Global trade volume has significantly enlarged in the recent years upon the opportunities resulted from the globalization. The growth in the trade volume increases the transportation activities as well. Fast and cost-effective delivery in fierce competitive conditions is also being an important competitive advantage. Within this framework, logistics sector and transportation, which we can be deemed as the backbone of this sector, become an indispensable part of the global competition. Accordingly, Türkiye can achieve more significant developments thanks to the policies that adopt to the changing conditions, meet the developing transportation and communication needs in a more effective way and increase the coordination efficiency in such fields.

In today’s world, one of the most important investment fields for the country is the investments made in informatics undoubtedly. In a period where the technology has developed rapidly, access to information is a difference-creating but very valuable factor in the competition, which can be provided by infrastructure investments that will create strong informatics network to us. In the light of these developments, as the industrialists, we hosted Mr. Cahit Turhan, T.R Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure in the last Assembly meeting to discuss the “Importance of the Transportation Infrastructure Projects in terms of Global Competition and Our Industry.” The messages that Mr. Turhan provided on this subject during the Assembly Meeting were of high importance which you will read on the following pages.

Of the most pleasing developments of the last month for us, the industrialists was that we yielded the fruit of our efforts we put during the recent years for the vocational high schools. If you remember, as Istanbul Chamber of Industry, we signed “Professional Education Business Union Protocol” with T.R Ministry of Education in January. Our intensive work and efforts to promote the increase of quality of vocational high schools and encourage the young population to prefer these schools have been responded with the intense interest of young people for 38 vocational high schools with which we have established a collaboraion in Istanbul. According to the placement results announced within the scope of High School Transition System (LGS) of this year, the occupancy rate of 38 vocational high schools supported by our Chamber reached to 100 percent. We would like to seize a sustainable success in such fields through the steps we will take in companion with patience and determination.

The history shows us that: “Victory is for only those who really believe it.” I congratulate you on August 30 Victory Day which was won despite the difficulties after a three-year struggle that was successfully carried out with unity and solidarity.
