New System, New Term

  • Archive

Türkiye took a step towards a new term short while ago. It was predicted that the new system named as Presidential System of Government would be put into effect following the first Presidential elections. Thus, we are witnessing our new governmental system’s coming into existence following the elections carried out on 24 June 2018 all together.

While the legislative and executive bodies and their process are being redefined with the transformation into Presidential System of Government, it is inevitable that this extensive transformation will bear major consequences on our economic and social lives. Therefore, just like all people of this society we, the industrialists are in the struggle for learning and understanding what changes this new system will bring and how these changes will affect our production, economy and social life. Starting from this understanding, we handled the subject in the July Assembly Meeting themed of “Overview to Presidential System of Government within the scope of “Legislation, Execution, Economy and Society” with Prof. Dr. Haluk Alkan, Political Scientist and the dean of Faculty of Economics in Istanbul University.

With Presidential System of Government’s coming into existence, new Council of Ministers was announced. As ICI board, we paid a negotiation and courtesy visit to Ruhsar Pekcan, the Minister of Trade in Istanbul. We will continue our visits within a program in the following days...

A new step was taken for our economy, production life and industry: The announcements which Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkish Republic made under the 100-days Action Plan have important titles for our country. However, the most important title for our industry is the decision concerning the Development Bankings and the targets.

Mr. President of Turkish Republic announced that the Development Bank will be restructured in line with a banking model which will contribute to the decrease of current deficit and support the production of high value-added and technological products. Therefore, a system which will bring development banking in the developed countries to our country will be created.

As Istanbul Chamber of Industry, this subject was our demand which we were mentioning for a long time for the access of our industrialists to more qualified and cheaper financing. Therefore, we consider the Development Bank’s being handled under the 100-days Action Plan so that it could be restructured with a mission just as in the developed countries and showing sensitivity for this as a valuable step for our industry’s reaching to a very important, more qualified and value-added structure...
