The Wheels of our Economy and Industry are Going Round

The growth in our economy by over 5% is significantly valuable and meaningful in terms of our social morale in the second quarter, just like in the first quarter of the year. It’s not in vain that both the ratings bureaus and various international institutions from OECD to IMF have increased their growth estimations concerning the economy in our country by revising one by one. This growth performance indicates that our economy and production wheels aren’t stopped, aren’t able to be stopped although various negative events since the last year.

It is of great importance that our industrial sector contributed 1,4 point to the growth in the first quarter by growing 6,7%, and then, has grown by 6,3% and provided contribution of 1,3 point in the second quarter by preserving the same performance. . Just like the each period does, these second quarter’s growth figures have indicated us this fact: Power of the growth is the industry. Briefly, announced data have shown that our economy and industry have directed away from the recession station.

In the light of these data, our belief about closing the year with a growth by over 5%, higher than all the internal and external estimations concerning the Türkiye’s economy. On the other hand, the increase of Istanbul Chamber of Industry Türkiye Manufacturing PMI Purchasing Managers Index to 55,3 which is the highest figure of the last 6,5 years in August after July has foretold us that the growth of our economy in the third quarter will be very strong.

I want to underline an important point especially. . We should more focus on science and technology for the sustainable high growth. Within this scope, as Istanbul Chamber of Industry, we realized our August Assembly meeting with the main agenda of “ A New Industrialization Perspective in the light of Science and Technology for Global Competition and Qualified Manufacture”. We touched upon this important subject with our Assembly guest Ziya Altunyaldız, President of Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Committee on Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources Information and Technology. Therefore as the industrialist, we showed again how much we attached importance to this subject. You can read more about this Assembly meeting on this issue of our magazine.

I sincerely believe that as the industrialists, we will make effort all together in cooperation to make contribution to our country’s economy and social welfare, just as we have done until today.

Our Republic is approaching to its 100th year by leaving the 94 years behind with lots of successes. In the 94th year of the foundation of our Republic which is deep-rooted just as a plane tree and contributed to our society in numerous ways, I want to celebrate your 29 October Republic Day.
