We Lost Our Visionary Chairman, Hüsamettin Kavi

Sadly, last month, we lost our Chairman, Hüsamettin Kavi, our esteemed senior industrialist who had great contributions to our chamber.

I have no doubt that Mr. Kavi left a precious and a very sentimental legacy to his circle, the institutions he served, his friends and his family. This legacy is as much a consolation for us as it is for his family and relatives.

I had the honor of working with Hüsamettin Kavi, a kind and beautiful person, for many years in the ICI Assembly, in the Board of Directors and in the ISOV Foundation. As an industrialist, citizen and a family man, he was an exemplary person. He was a gentleman and a symbol of elegance with his calm style.

During his 18 years as an executive, he provided numerous services to our chamber. He never lost his love for industrialism and the ICI which was always an area of responsibility and interest for him. He had a never-ending energy. These versatile characteristics of him added value and quality to our chamber.

We sent off our Chairman, as you will read in the following pages, from the assembly hall of our chamber, which he led for many years, with an elegant, simple ceremony, but full of emotion, love and respect. I'm sure that's what he would have wanted. Attended by his family, his fellow industrialists, relatives and our council members, the ceremony was a fitting tribute to him. Once again, I want to express my sincere condolences for our Chairman. May God give peace to his soul and may he rest in Heaven.

We talked, discussed, and evaluated the agenda of our country, the problems of our industry, and our solution proposals, as we do every month in our September meeting in our assembly hall.

At this assembly, we also had a panel discussion with valuable speakers on the agenda item with the topic of "Assessment of the Med-Term Program in terms of our Industry’s 2023 Vision and Future and our Production Life".

In our meeting, as you can read in detail on the following pages, we highlighted the prominent theme of this year's Med-Term Program on behalf of the industrial sector, which is "Mobilization of resources and policy instruments in line with the goal of transition to a technology-intensive and high value-added industry".

The election process and its excitement in the chambers and commodity exchanges under TOBB, our roof institution, have officially begun. We have recently determined the election calendar for the organ elections of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ICI), Türkiye's largest chamber of industry with more than 22,000 members. Professional Committee and Assembly Members to serve in the new term will be appointed with the election to be held on Wednesday, November 2, at the Haliç Congress Center.

According to the election calendar, the ICI Chairman and Members, Assembly President and Vice Presidents, Clerk Member, Disciplinary Board, TOBB Delegates and Chamber Commissions will be elected on Wednesday, November 9, at Odakule. Similarly, elections for Committee Chairman and Vice Chairman for 55 Professional Committees will be held on Wednesday, November 9. The necessary announcements and notifications concerning you during the election process will be made by our Office of the Secretary General. I wish this process be beneficial and favorable for our Chamber.
