Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Gailan Saeed Azeez Visits ICI Management with His Delegation

A delegation led by Gailan Saeed Azeez, Chairman of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Erbil CCI) of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, visited the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ICI) Management on October 3, 2025.

The visit, hosted by Erdal Bahçıvan, ICI Chairman of Board of Directors, was also attended by İrfan Özhamaratlı, ICI Vice Chairman of Board of Directors, and ICI Member of Board of Directors Hüseyin Çetin and Dr. Faruk Sarı. 

The meeting took place at the ICI headquarters in the Odakule building and was also attended by Erbil CCI Board Members Shreen Yahya Khalil Sherwani and Faisal Muhammed Rasul. The attendants evaluated economic relations between the two countries and discussed how the ICI and Erbil CCI could contribute to this process and bring dynamism to economic relations.

During the visit, mutual assessments were made on the potential in the field of industry and trade between Türkiye and the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Erbil's strategic position was emphasized, and the importance of developing joint projects was highlighted. It was also noted that Turkish companies are the largest investor group in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government. It was emphasized that this strength has the potential to be further developed, particularly in the energy, construction, textile, and food sectors. 

To this end, while focusing on possible areas of cooperation and projects that could be developed, it was agreed that a delegation, led by ICI and Erbil CCI and including chambers from other cities in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, would meet with the business community in Istanbul in the coming days. 

The visit was considered an important step towards the long-term strategic cooperation goals of the two chambers. It was decided to increase communication between institutions in order to take concrete steps to increase trade volume between the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and Istanbul industrialists in the coming period.
