As part of the collaboration between the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ICI) and S&P Global (formerly known as IHS Markit prior to the merger), which has been ongoing since 1 September 2015, the Türkiye Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) report has been shared each month with industrialists and the wider economic community under the auspices of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry.
Since 2020, this collaboration has been expanded to include the preparation of a regular report measuring business conditions in the sub-sectors of the manufacturing industry. To this end, sector-specific company panels have been established in order to generate Sector PMI indices for ten sub-sector groups identified by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry.
ICI Sector PMI indices are calculated using the same methodology as the ICI Türkiye Manufacturing PMI and provide a current, detailed, and comparable dataset on monthly trends in business conditions across manufacturing sub-sectors. All indices are seasonally adjusted prior to publication. The historical series of the ICI Sector PMI extend back to January 2016.
The PMI indices for the following sector groups are published within the scope of the study:
- Food products
- Textiles
- Clothing and leather products
- Wood and paper products
- Chemicals, plastics and rubber
- Non-metallic mineral products
- Basic metals
- Machinery and metal products
- Electrical and electronic equipment
- Land and sea vehicles
Reports summarising the results of the ICI Sector PMI surveys are published on this page on the first working day of each month, simultaneously with the ICI Türkiye Manufacturing PMI.
