The Istanbul Chamber of Industry aims to establish effective, efficient, and results-oriented collaborations between universities and industry, ensure the optimal use of limited resources, and act as a strong coordinator within the ecosystem for knowledge and technology transfer.
ISO places great importance on implementing university–industry collaboration (UIC) through concrete projects to enhance the competitiveness of industry. In line with this approach, it encourages its members to benefit from support programs related to university–industry collaboration and develops high value-added partnerships with universities in order to address the flow of knowledge and technology between academia and industry through an institutional and systematic approach.
ISO’s activities in the field of UIC are structured under three main pillars: “Education and Training,” “R&D and Innovation,” and “Interaction and Collaboration Development.”

- Under the “Education and Training” pillar of the ISO UIC model, internship collaborations, joint education, and certification programs are designed to encourage industry participation in sectoral courses and seminars, while strengthening interaction with academia and students.
- Within the “R&D and Innovation” pillar, project collaborations between universities and industry are promoted, and master’s theses and undergraduate graduation projects addressing the needs and demands of industry are supported. In this context, the Istanbul Chamber of Industry Young Researchers Program has been implemented since 2023. In addition, collaborations focusing on commercialization, entrepreneurship, and sustainability are also developed under the R&D and Innovation pillar.
- The third pillar of the model, “Interaction and Collaboration Development,” focuses on strengthening engagement between industrialists and universities through university–industry networking events, while also promoting greater use of university laboratory infrastructures by industry representatives.
