Delegation of the Indonesian Regional Development Ministry Visited Istanbul Chamber of Industry

A delegation presided by Dr. Wahyu Utomo, Vice-minister of the Indonesian Regional Development and Spatial Planning Coordination Ministry, visited Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ICI) on July 19, 2022.

Mr. Erdal Bahçıvan, chairman of ICI board of directors, hosted the visit during which the trade and investment possibilities between the two countries were discussed. ICI chairman Mr. Bahçıvan expressed his happiness to host the Indonesian delegation at ICI and presented a briefing to the members of the delegation about Istanbul Chamber of Industry, which was followed by a presentation made by Mr. Burçin Değirmencioğlu, Assistant Secretary General of ICI, about the services provided and activities carried out by ICI.

Vice-minister Dr. Wahyu Utomo presented information about the free trade zones in their country and the companies from different sectors engaged in production in those regions. Utomo pointed out that they attached a special importance to the establishment and development of potential commercial and investment relations between the Indonesian and Turkish companies specialized especially in Halal sector, underlining that the Turkish companies investing in the free trade zones would also be in an advantageous position in terms of having access to other important countries in the region. Furthermore, he noted that two different delegations from Indonesia would come to Türkiye this November and Indonesian companies would visit the Halal Expo events to be organized in Türkiye in the same month.

During the talks that took place under the scope of "G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting" on July 15-16, 2022 and hosted by Indonesia, the parties exchange their views about enhancing the activities between the two countries in the fields of global economy, global health, international financial architecture. The talks took place in a warm atmosphere and the parties discussed the steps that may be taken concerning the extensive economic partnership agreement which is still being negotiated and planned to be signed between Türkiye and Indonesia. Furthermore, the parties agreed on the enhancement of communication between the institutions of the two countries.

During his visit, Vice Minister Dr. Wahyu Utomo was accompanied by Mr. Kartika Listriana, his assistant responsible for strengthening the regional competitiveness of Indonesia; Mr. Khansa Hanun Augi Ath Thaariq, his assistant responsible for strengthening the regional competitiveness of Indonesia; Mr. Muhammad Ikhsan Fansuri, the Management Agency Chairman of Tanjung Pinang Free Trade Zone; Mr. Siswanto, the Official of Batam Free Trade Zone; Mr. Dafit Rikardo, Official of Batam Free Trade Zone; Dr. Arias Fhariandi, Assistant Secretary of Bintan and Karimun Free Trade Zone Council; Consul Jepri Edi in charge of Economic Affairs of the Indonesian Consulate General; Ömür Can Güler in charge of Economic Affairs of Indonesian Consulate General; and Eric Gokasi Nababan, Commercial Attaché of Indonesian Embassy.
